Microdosing Guidelines
What exactly is microdosing?
Microdosing is the practice of consuming sub-perceptual amounts of psychedelics—typically 5% to 10% of a standard recreational dose. The goal is to experience subtle improvements in mood, focus, creativity, and energy without experiencing visual distortions or an altered state of consciousness.
What is a typical microdose amount?
Microdose quantities depend entirely on tolerance and individual sensitivity, but general starting parameters are:
- Microdose: 50mg to 200mg (0.05g to 0.2g).
- Low Dose (Creative/Museum): 500mg to 1000mg (0.5g to 1.0g).
- Full Dose (Recreational): 2000mg+ (2.0g and above).
If you are new to the practice, we highly recommend starting with our pre-measured 100mg capsules to keep measurements consistent and exact.
What protocol or schedule should I follow?
To prevent the body from building a tolerance, you should not microdose every single day. The two most popular protocols are:
- The Fadiman Protocol (1 Day On, 2 Days Off): Microdose on Day 1, observe any lingering effects on Day 2, rest your system on Day 3, and repeat on Day 4.
- The Stamets Protocol (4 Days On, 3 Days Off): Microdose daily from Monday through Thursday, then take Friday, Saturday, and Sunday completely off.
We recommend following a selected protocol for 4 to 8 weeks, followed by a 2-week break to let your base tolerance clear completely.
Are there any medication interactions or risks?
Yes. Psilocybin interacts directly with serotonin receptors. Traditional anti-depressants like SSRIs or SNRIs can significantly dull or cancel out the effects of microdosing. Individuals with a personal or family history of severe psychiatric conditions, such as psychosis or schizophrenia, should avoid microdosing completely due to potential health complications.
